AERONAUTICAL BRANCH

  • Conduct research on aircraft design and performance.
  • Conduct research on aircraft aerodynamic properties.
  • Conduct research on aircraft propulsion system.
  • Conduct research on aircraft mechanical system.
  • Provide technical support to MAF in procurement specifications development and verification, laboratory tests and technical evaluation of procurement, assessments and investigation of aircraft failures and their components.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise in the aeronautics to national defence and security industry companies.

MECHANICAL AND STRUCTURES TECHNOLOGY BRANCH

  • Conduct research and development related with machinery and structure technology.
  • Provide laboratory expertise and facilities in machinery and structural technology to MAF to ensure that machinery and platform components operate and maintain a high degree of security.
  • Conduct tests and investigations on mechanical properties, fatigue, material behaviour and micro structure inspection of materials especially against aircraft and vehicle components.
  • Develop capabilities and equipment in the computer simulation involve stress analysis.
  • Provide expertise and equipment to detect component damage and deterioration of material properties.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to defence industry companies.

MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY BRANCH

  • Conduct research studies on materials technology to be used in enhancing and maintaining MAF capabilities.
  • Conduct laboratory testing for quality control of petroleum products/materials used by air and land MAF’s vehicle to ensure that the products comply with defence specifications.
  • Conduct studies and analysis of impairment or degradation, properties and material treatment for material lifespan to ensure the safety and efficiency of assets in MAF services.
  • Conduct a material failure investigation of a system or equipment used in MAF services.
  • Provide technical support to MAF in procurement specifications development and verification, laboratory tests and procurement technical evaluation, military equipment assessments and equipment failure investigations.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to national defence and security industry companies.

VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY BRANCH

  • Conduct research and development (R&D) projects related with MAF land vehicles.
  • Provide technical support to MAF in procurement specifications development, verification and technical evaluation of land acquisition vehicles as well as mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct PDI, assessment, FAT land vehicle and mechanical equipment owned by MAF.
  • Conduct measurement and analysis of noise and vibration related with vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • Develop capabilities and equipment in high-tech vehicle testing.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to national defence and security industry companies.

ENGINEERING BRANCH

  • Conduct research and development studies related to engineering principles.
  • Design systems based on requests from STRIDE divisions that incorporate principles of engineering principles such as mechanical, electronic and control.
  • Conduct technical drawings, jig designs, components or mechanical tools using CAD/CAM software.
  • Provide technical support to MAF in procurement specifications development, verification and technical evaluation of procurement military equipment.
  • Conduct fabrication tasks focus on the process of turning, milling, cutting, grinding, drilling and welding using the facilities provided according to user specification.
  • Conduct the manufaturing process of signboard.
