  • To coordinate and implement relevant programs and activities in strengthening national implementation of obligations under the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC).
  • To identify international partners and establish collaboration to assist Malaysia in building capacity and capability to address and reduce the deliberate use of biological agents or toxins as weapon.
  • To provide technical expertise and coordinate inter-agency collaboration in dealing with biological threats reduction.
  • To organize and coordinate national programs to develop capacity and capability in biosecurity and to counter biological threats.
  • To provide technical expertise to the Ministry of Defence (Policy and Strategic Planning Division) in relation to the implementation of the BTWC Bill.

  • Plan, manage and coordinate all relevant matters in creating and providing testing facilities at Tropical Testing Centre (TTC).
  • Conduct tropical testing on equipment, systems, human or defence and commercial assets from local and overseas.
  • Provide technical advices and expertise regarding problems encountered from tropical environment impact on equipment, systems, human or defence and commercial assets to the Malaysian Armed Forces and commercial industries.
  • Conduct and monitor the implementation of R&D relating to problems encountered as a result of tropical environment impact on equipment, systems or defence and commercial assets.
  • Provide scientific and technology resources as well as become the reference centre for material profiles relating to tropical environmental impact on equipment, systems or defence and commercial assets.
  • Provide database services on storage procedure of equipment, systems or defence and commercial assets in a tropical environment.
  • Promoting TTC as the first Centre of Excellence in tropical testing within Asian region.
  • Implement maintenance of TTC's infrastructure and laboratory equipment.
